Functional Medicine From a Physician Who Can Also Write a Prescription
Dr. Gabriella Safdieh is a licensed physician who evaluates the full picture of your health, using advanced testing to understand root contributors, while retaining the ability to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medication when it's the right tool.
What Functional Medicine Means at Nabella Health
Functional medicine asks a different question than a standard visit: not just “what symptom are you having,” but “what’s driving it.” That means looking at how your hormones, gut health, sleep, stress response, nutrition, movement, and daily habits all interact instead of treating each in a vacuum. Your lifestyle can have a meaningful impact on how you feel, so we look at the full picture to understand where changes can make the greatest difference.
Because Dr. Safdieh trained in both conventional and integrative medicine, functional medicine here isn't limited to supplements and lifestyle advice. She can order advanced diagnostics, interpret them clinically, and combine medication, targeted supplementation, and lifestyle changes into one coordinated plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Functional medicine is not the same as alternative medicine. Alternative medicine typically refers to treatments used instead of conventional medical care. Functional medicine works within conventional medicine while taking a broader approach to understanding your health. At Nabella Health, care is led by Dr. Gabriella Safdieh who can order diagnostic testing, prescribe medication, and provide conventional treatment when appropriate, while also considering factors like nutrition, lifestyle, hormones, sleep, stress, and other potential contributors to your health.

Common concerns include fatigue, weight and metabolic changes, hormone imbalances, gut and digestive issues, and general "not feeling like myself" symptoms that haven't been fully explained elsewhere.

No, you don’t need a referral. Many of our patients come to us through a friend, family member, or physician, but anyone interested in a more personalized, comprehensive approach to their health is welcome to reach out directly. Our team will help you understand how the practice works, answer your initial questions, and determine whether Nabella Health is the right fit for your needs.

Nabella Health provides comprehensive, physician-led care and can address many of the same concerns you might bring to your primary care physician—from preventive health and in-depth testing to chronic conditions, medications, and visits when you’re not feeling well.
However, we recommend that you maintain a primary care physician for routine physical examinations and care that may require in-office testing or services we do not provide, such as EKGs, in-house blood draws, viral testing, or urgent same-day evaluation. When needed, we work alongside your primary care physician and specialists so that your care remains coordinated and comprehensive.
